Infinity, Inc. Joins 3rd Annual Bytes for Bites Competition and Issues Challenge to Savannah Technology Companies
Infinity, Inc. proudly joins the movement against hunger in Georgia during the 3rd annual Bytes for Bites — a two-week fund and food drive competition by the Georgia Food Bank Association in partnership with the Technology Association of Georgia.
The Infinity, Inc. team will be participating with enterprises here in Savannah and across the state to raise funds and pounds of food to help our local food bank, America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, serve our local community. With more than 1 in every 4 Georgia kids at risk for hunger, this problem hits the hardest over the summer months when children no longer have access to free or reduced cost school meals.
Bytes for Bites aims to engage Georgia’s technology and startup community in the fight against hunger through a friendly food and fund drive competition to benefit Georgia’s regional food banks. From June 11-22, Infinity, Inc. and companies around the state will compete to raise the most food and funds for local food banks and get a chance to win the coveted TAG Cup as well as regional awards.
This is the first time Coastal Georgia is participating in the Bytes for Bites effort, and Infinity, Inc. is proud to lead the effort. We challenge Savannah tech enterprises to join us in this initiative for a little friendly competition and to help children in our very own community not have to worry about when their next meal is coming. Together we can take a “byte” out of hunger.
As Infinity, Inc. CEO Chuck Brown explains, “Infinity’s relationship with America’s Second Harvest goes back many years. The need in our area is heartbreaking, and these guys do an amazing job with limited resources. We believe in their mission and really enjoy working with their team. In fact, we would challenge everyone in this area to get more involved with Second Harvest, whether it be through sponsoring their events, donating food, or giving a few hours of time to help them process the food they receive. This event is just a fun way for the technology community to plug in a little bit more.”
In 2017, over 40 technology companies representing more than 3,000 members of the technology industry far surpassed the initial goal and raised more than $69,000 and 4,352 pounds of food for Georgia’s food banks. This is the equivalent of 275,158 meals that its member food banks were able to distribute to families and children struggling with hunger in Georgia. This year, the goal is to raise $100,000 across the state or the equivalent of 400,000 meals.
Technology companies can register before Friday, June 8 to join the fight against hunger in our community and nurture tomorrow’s tech talent. Individuals and other businesses that would like to contribute should contact Infinity, Inc. about food and financial donations.
